The 8XC Series transmitters are the result of a global design strategy. The 8XC Series incorporates our universal exciter and control system, which includes a universal modulator, low phase noise upconverter, a complete system and site controller, and optional GPS receiver, DVB-S2 satellite receiver, and Ethernet input interface, all of which is integrated into a single 3U rack-mount chassis. This makes the 8XC Series ideally suited for mobile multimedia applications.

The 8XC Series transmitters are designed to operate with most any current digital television standard, including DVB-T, DVB-H, DVB-SH, CMMB (STiMi), DAB/T-DMB, MediaFLO&trade, SDARS, ATSC and more. Our universal exciter platform allows us to provide the highest levels of performance, meeting all relevant international standards, along with Axcera's uncompromised long-term support.

Operators can select from less than 200W to greater than 1kW average power, providing the flexibility to build very efficient single frequency networks (SFNs) using a common transmitter platform. By selecting the power levels that are appropriate for the geographical conditions of each market and within each individual cell, total site count can be reduced, lowering both acquisition and operating costs.

To maximize reliability, our advanced universal exciter and control system is completely self-contained in a single 3U rack-mount chassis, including a universal modulator, low phase noise upconverter, a complete system and site controller, and optional GPS receiver, DVB-S2 satellite receiver and Ethernet input interface. This unit drives up to six parallel, high gain amplifier modules, each with dedicated, integrated cooling and redundant power supplies. This simple design enhances reliability by reducing component parts count and minimizing harnessing and single point paths, resulting in high MTBF performance. At the same time, the simplicity of the design eases installation, field service and power upgrades.

Axcera has selected the most efficient LDMOS amplifiers for the 8XC Series. Advanced digital pre-correction techniques are employed to meet the most stringent out-of-band performance specifications while simultaneously minimizing power consumption. Parallel amplifier modules ensure high availability, and amplifier modules can be removed and installed without affecting the operation of the remaining amplifiers. Each amplifier includes redundant power factor corrected power supplies, minimizing service requirements and providing independent amplifier operation. Dedicated cooling is also integrated into each power amplifier chassis, requiring no ductwork or filtering in a typical environment.

Systems are available with Web browser and SNMP communications through an Ethernet (TCP/IP) interface. The Web browser option allows real-time remote control of the transmitter system from any Internet connection and a standard PC with a Web browser, such as Microsoft Explorer. The SNMP client provides the ability to communicate with higher-level network management systems that support simple network management protocol (Get, Set and SNMP traps).
